Prevention of Thyroid disease

Posted Dec 03 2008 11:50pm
Drink boiled water or mineral water ( water filters may have iodine as disinfectant ).

Eat a balanced diet and exercise 4- 5 times a week.

Sleep at least 6-8 hours a day.

Thyroid medication should be taken regularly, and this could be a lifelong situation , unless your doctor prescribes otherwise.

Yoga and medication have long- term beneficial effects.

Cold aggravates the thyroid glands so be careful the winter months.

Include a thyroid test as part of your annual health check – up.

Make sure you have enough Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D3 in your diet, especially if you are a vegetarian.

Avoid too much of iodine – rich items such as broccoli, cabbage , cauliflower, soy, prawns, shell fish and crabs.
