Fall is a magical time for play dough activities . Pumpkins, fall leaves, pine needles, acorns: all of these things can be used in conjunction with homemade pumpkin pie play dough to make simple fall-themed creations.

Here’s what you need to make acorns and an owl:

Acorns are really easy to make and my 2 year old twins felt very accomplished when they managed to make a pile of play dough acorns. I taught them how to make  a small play dough ball and put an acorn’s hat on it and they succeeded right away:

To make an owl, make a play dough pancake. Split its bottom into two legs. Add leaves for wings, acorn hats for the eyes and an acorn for a beak. My preschooler loved making owls!
