Not Just Another Resolutions Post

Heeelloo all! Well, it is 2011! Pretty crazy… Everything has been sneaking up on me lately! I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s resolution posts and recap posts and I don’t want to bore all of you with mine, but I do have some goals/resolutions that I would like to share- maybe you have some feedback or maybe you are looking for some goals yourself! KEEP reading though- because like I said, this is not just another goals post- I’ve got some food-licious pics below ;)

2011 Resolutions:

2. Take more risks- I tend to be a creature of habit. I like what I like and I just stick to my routine… but I really want to try and break free of food ruts, exercise ruts, and just daily ruts and try to expand my daily palate! Blogging has already helped this so much as I have been able to try so many different foods and food combos I never would have thought of!

3. Strength Training- I know I mentioned this before in an earlier post that I wanted to do some more strength training and well this is my year! I want to build lean muscle and do it in a healthy way… I actually used to play intense basketball with a team (I’ve played bball for 9 years!) and just this year I stopped playing because I wasn’t enjoying the experience anymore.. anyways.. due to this I have lost a lot of muscle and although I wasn’t happy with all the muscle I had built from bball.. I want to gain a little bit back.. but to be frank I have quite a small build so I don’t want to go overboard like I did during when I was playing!.. any thoughts on how to build lean muscle for a small frame?

4. Eat Clean- the biggest thing I learnt this year is that clean, unprocessed food really does make a difference in the way my body feels! I LOVE how much more energy I have and how much better I feel in myself. I want to continue to live my life this way and keep experimenting with foods!

I have a few other small resolutions, but I wanted to share my main goals with you all.. if you have any suggestions/comments… please let me know!

Now.. onto some recent YUMMY eats!

My first Green Purple Monster! so I didn’t put enough spinach and the berries totally dominated the color– i LOVE these- totally will be having these more often for a snack! This one included: 1 frozen banana, 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder, handful spinach, small handful frozen berries, ice, water= BLEND!

Hummus+spinach+ cucumber sandwich on WW with sliced apple, agave and cinnamon and a spoonful of pb!

(TERRIBLE lighting- this was taken in the dark whilst watching Jersey Shore- guilty pleasure)… here we have a massive plate of roasted veggies (B-sprouts, carrot, eggplant, leek, parsnip, mushrooms, zucchini in garlic and onion granules) tossed with mustard and a side of a carton of cottage cheese (mixed with onion, chive, white pepper)- humph-that was a mouthful! (actually it was many ;)

Yummy lunch I made… I made a sort of egg white pie thing! I whisked 4 egg whites with pepper till slightly bubbly then cooked it on the hob– flipped it then spread 1 light laughing cow wedge on it with some spinach, tuna and sweetcorn and mustard! With some cucumber slices and a side of Fage 0% with 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean, cinnamon and agave.. derrrish!

ahhh what is that? It looks like turd and I promise you it ain’t.. it has also been half eaten oops.. then I remembered to take a picture and it was the worst lighting ever… my apologies! Anyways.. this is a Overnight Oatmeal Snack Cookie:

Just mix:

1/3 cup oats

1 tbsp dried fruit (I used raisins)

1.5 tsp nut butter

1 tsp agave

1 tsp maple syrup

2 tbsp liquid (I used water, but milk would probably work better!)

dash of cinnamon

Form into a patty and let it sit in the fridge overnight.. or at least for about 2.5 hours and voila! Healthy, easy cookie!
