My Daily Food Diary: 7/23/12

Breakfast #1

My favorite way to begin the day, right after 2 large glasses of water I enjoy half a banana spread with 2 teaspoons Justin’s almond butter (2 PPV).

Activity

I’m back in the habit of exercising first thing in the morning so I’m sure it happens. I took Francie on a 15 minute walk keeping it short because it was so hot, brought her home, had a drink of water, and then headed out for another 30 minute walk with Brenda that included a stop in the park for some stretching and sun salutes.

I ordered this Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer  that arrived in the mail from Amazon this afternoon, so now I can begin keeping track of the number of steps I’m taking each day. :-)

Breakfast #2

After our walk, we enjoyed a cup of decaf and bowl of plain Greek yogurt topped with a drizzle of honey, fresh raspberries, and a sprinkling of Grape Nuts (4 PPV)…

Then I got to work planning out what I would talk about at my Weight Watchers Meetings this week. The topic is building smarter salads which should be fun.

To get ready, I did a little research on the nutritional realities of the entree salads offered up at some of the popular chain restaurants, which was pretty scary. Can you guess the Points Plus value of the Boneless Buffalo Chicken Salad at Chili’s or the Grilled Shrimp and Spinach Salad at Applebee’s? (26 & 27) All I can say is yikes, I know I’ve ordered that Grilled Shrimp and Spinach Salad at Applebee’s, believing it was a “healthy” choice and never dreaming it had 27 PointsPlus value.

I also got a bunch of work done at the computer and then took a break to get showered before moving into lunch mode.

Lunch

I put together the Chickpea and Feta Salad from the July 8-14, 2012 Weight Watchers Weekly. So we had some of that for lunch along with 2 slices of turkey and 2 slices of baguette with goat cheese and a falafel with tahini (12 PPV). It was filling and full of Power Foods to carry me through tonight’s meeting until dinner.

After lunch I did a little more computer work before heading off for my 6:00 Weight Watchers Meeting, returning home a little after 8:00. It took me about 30 minutes to pull dinner together. I had a glass of Lillet and soda on the rocks (3 PPV) while making dinner, which was delicious.

Dinner

For dinner we had more of the tasty chickpea and feta salad (4 PPV) (I snapped the picture before adding the salad to my plate – oops!) along with grilled turkey burgers with cheese, zucchini and red bell peppers (1PPV for the oil). I was satisfied after eating half  the burger (5 PPV), so put away the  the rest for tomorrow.
