Does the staff have suitable acedamic education and actual hands- on experience - If they don't have a degree in sports medicine or an exercise science, they should atleast have some sort of certification from a recognised organisation such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Is the place clean, the equipment well maintained ?
Is the gym properly ventilated ?
Check the optimum temperature control- overly chilly conditions can make you more susceptible to joint injuries.
Are there regular follow-up evaluations of your progress? It's essential that the centre offer an initial orientation programme for equipment you don't know how to use. It's also vital that they re-evaluate your programme and vary the routine as appropriate.
