On Saturday, Molly and I went to the vet's office. I was able to collect the following information-She's about 8-10 years old -Her jaw was disformed either at birth or from being struck long ago, it's not a new injury -Surgery is not a good idea, but a thorough teeth cleaning is -She has bad cataracts, and is borderline blind -Overall, she is in decent health
With the donations I have received so far, I was able to have her heartworm tested (negative!), rabies shot, kennel cough shot, and one dose of each flea and tick meds and heartwom meds. With further donations and the bakesale, I should be able to have the teeth cleaning completed, and there is the option of giving her eye drops for the cataracts. I will also get her further doses of medications.
The vet has many rescue contacts, and put me in touch with them. He believes that we should be able to get her with a rescue or foster family soon, so keep your fingers crossed! Molly is getting along much better with my dogs, and is able to spend the nights in the house and socialize a bit.
In the mean time, keep sending in your baking pledges for the bakesale! Tuesday evening is the deadline for that. The bakesale will begin Wednesday and end Friday. If you'd like to donate via paypal, my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
