Justin’s Nut Butter!!…

Posted Feb 12 2013 6:52am

Hi there!  Happy Tuesday to you!  I have a feeling that this week is going to go by terribly slow.  Yesterday went by really slow.  I think it was one of the longest days in a while.  I think it’s because I’m anticipating the fact that my work is closed on Monday for President’s Day.  So I am realizing that I have a three-day weekend ahead of me.  That always makes the week go by so much slower.  Also, there are reports that we might get 4 inches of snow on Wednesday!  That is crazy after we just got the snow on Friday night/Saturday morning.  I don’t know if I feel like shoveling again.  I hope it won’t be too bad.

Anyway, for dinner last night, we kept things very simple.  We decided to have a Birds Eye Voila Meal instead of cooking something from scratch.  I was exhausted and just wanted something quick and easy.  All you do is open the contents of the bag and throw it in a skillet and you are done.  Easy dinner.

I was surprised that it was actually pretty good.  I liked that they added pineapple into the meal.  I always forget about adding pineapple to stir fry.  It just brings out an additional sweetness and flavor that you wouldn’t get without it.  I would probably buy this again, although I think I’d rather make it from scratch.  Stir fry’s really aren’t that difficult to make.  I don’t know why I never make it but I think that will be on my list of things to make for next week at some point.  Do you like frozen meals or do you prefer to cook from scratch?

Moving onto another topic.  Two weeks ago, I received a generous shipment from Justin’s Nut Butter !  I have never had any of Justin’s products before.  I have always heard so many great things about what they have to offer but I never had the chance to try anything myself.  I was really excited for the chance to see what Justin’s is about.  They were very generous in what they sent me to try.

Justin’s company uses only the highest quality of natural and organic ingredients that are sustainably harvested and grown locally.  The nut butters are sold in single-serve squeeze packs, jars and blended into candy.  Not only does Justin’s produce nut butters but they produce candy bars and peanut butter cups as well!

The company was founded by Justin Gold in 2004 in Boulder, Colorado.  He started making batches of nut butters in his kitchen and packed them into 16-ounce jars giving them to friends and family, and eventually selling them to local stores.  He had such a great response that the company grew in 4 years to becoming a nationally known brand.

The nut butters are: Gluten and dairy free, Certified kosher, contain 6-7 grams of protein per serving.  The peanuts tested are aflatoxin free, nutrient-rich almonds to lower cholesterol levels, contain no hydrogenated oils or preservatives and no trans fats or high fructose corn syrup.  The flavors they come in are:

Peanut Butters: Classic, Honey and Chocolate
Almond Butters: Classic, Honey, Maple and Chocolate
Hazelnut Butters: Chocolate

I decided to try the Almond butter.  The original almond butter and I was amazed.  It was a little difficult to spread, I think because it was in a packet and not a jar.  It wasn’t a big deal though.  The taste was unlike any other nut butter I’ve had.  It tasted like pure almonds.  It was a little grainy because you could tell how it was made fresh.  I really liked the almond flavoring.  It was a nice change from peanut butter.

Mike tried the peanut butter and really liked it.  He said that it tasted like freshly ground peanuts!  You could tell just how fresh and natural the peanut butter tasted compared to other brands.  It was impressive.

I haven’t had nut butter in a very long time because of my stomach and I was actually shocked that the almond butter didn’t bother my stomach!  I was beyond the point of excited because I am now able to enjoy a form a of nut butter again! I missed it so much.  In fact I actually have an almond butter and jelly sandwich for lunch today.  This is the second day in a row.  I guess you can tell I am excited!  I am dying to try the Chocolate Hazelnut butter and that is my product to try!  I cannot wait to try that!  I bet it will taste amazing.

In addition to the nut butters, Justin’s makes candy.  They make Peanut Butter Cups that are: Certified organic, Gluten free.  The Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is dairy free and vegan. Chocolate is certified fair trade, 100 calories per individual cup, contain no hydrogenated oils or preservatives and no trans fats or high fructose corn syrup.  They come in two varieties: Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate.

It’s no surprise that I am a huge fan of Peanut Butter Cups.  I always have been and always will be.  There is something about the combination of peanut butter and chocolate that I love.  I am also a huge fan of dark chocolate.  So I knew exactly which one I was going to try first!  Mike and I split the dark chocolate package of the peanut butter cups.  We each had one.  When I took my first bite, I was in heaven.  The dark chocolate was nice and rich.  It had a bittersweet flavor to it that I love about dark chocolate. The peanut butter was nice and creamy.  It tasted like it was freshly ground and placed in the peanut butter cup.  I absolutely loved it.  I probably could have eaten the entire container full of peanut butter cups.  Mike was in agreement with me.  We both really liked the dark chocolate variety of the peanut butter cup.

The last candy product that Justin’s makes are their Candy Bars!  These bars are: Gluten free, Made with premium chocolate, 25% less sugar than leading brand, 50% more protein than leading brand, 100% more fiber than leading brand, have no hydrogenated oils or preservatives, and no trans fats or high fructose corn syrup.  The flavors these come in are: Milk Chocolate Peanut Bar, Dark Chocolate Peanut Bar, and Milk Chocolate Almond Bar.

Candy Bars!

The Chocolate Almond bar was unlike any other candy bar I’ve ever had.  I liked how it had chocolate, almonds and caramel in it.  I think those three ingredients were the perfect items to put together into a candy bar.  It was quite filling and it was very unique for a candy bar.  It tasted fresh and left me wanting more.  I didn’t try the peanut bars but I’m sure they taste just as great.

I was really impressed by Justin’s products and I now see why so many people enjoy them.  I think  I will be enjoying Justin’s products for a long time to come.  Thank you so much for allowing me to try your products, Justin’s!  Have you ever tried Justin’s products?  Which are you favorite or which would you most want to try?

Have a great Tuesday!
