This is a great way to monitor temperatures (of cooking oils for example) quickly and from a distance. Seems fancy and expensive, but I got this from Amazon for under 20 dollars! I’m not a big fan of candy thermometers when deep frying because they tend to be unstable depending on the size of the pot you are using.
