How to make peanut butter at home.

Posted by Swati S.

Store bought peanut butter is high on salt and contains added saturated fats, which are not good for you. Here's a really quick and easy recipe to make peanut butter at home. Ingredients: 1 cup of peanuts, 1 teaspoon oil (you can use peanut oil or any other vegetable oil that doesn't have a strong fragrance) and a pinch of salt. Take roasted, unsalted peanuts. If you are making this for the first time, go for ones that are already roasted and shelled. Later, when you are more experienced, you can shell the peanuts at home and roast them in the oven. Leave the red skin on if you like the taste. Now put the peanuts in the food processor. Add the oil and the salt. Start the food processor. Check after a minute or so. If you like chunks of peanuts in the butter, don't grind it for too long. But if you prefer a smooth paste, then grind them longer till its smooth. If the butter seems too thick, add some more oil to it. There- your homemade peanut butter is ready to eat. You can store it to eat later as well. Enjoy your treat and let me know how it turned out!

Once my kitchen remodel is complete and I have access to the food processor, I will try and make this. I'm sure it will turn out great and if it is as easy as it sounds, it would be silly to keep buying peanut butter from the store. Thank you!
Wow, it seems so simple and obvious, but I never made it myself! Do you need to store this in the fridge like the adams pb? How long does it last typically?
I know - there are just some things which we are so used to being store-bought. But peanut butter is really something that can be made at home. I am glad u want to ty it! Best of luck!
Hi! I always store it in the fridge, and I am assumig it will probably go bad if stored outside. I try to finish off a batch by a week or a week and a half; although it may last longer. I have never tried it so am not too sure about that!
I am a peanut butter addict...which meant that I ate so much I became allergic to even the organic peanut butter with no saturated fat. Now I get a rash around my eye whenever I eat it. The good news, I can still have cashew nut butter, almond butter, walnut butter, and any other type of yummy nutty butter. I will try this recipe out with almonds!!

I don't think we could live without peanut butter at my house. I 've tried some of the organic brands but never found one we really liked. I'm definitely giving this a try.

Yum! This sounds so good. I am so used to the sugary style peanut butter, but I think I could switch. I'd have to have it with honey though. I'm curious how the cost compares. Also, seems like you should be able to keep it longer than a week. Anyone know?
