How do you feel about "those" microwave meals?

Posted by Kristen D.

I'm weary about using product names here, and there are many of them anyways. I'm basically talking about the low calorie, low fat, high sodium microwavable meals that some people (including myself) eat/have eaten while dieting. Have they worked for you? Are they good or bad for you?

No microwave foods. Well, I personally stay away from microwave meals altogether due to the fact that they have been proven to show severe molecular damage including the loss of vitamins. This can lead to changes in our blood and immune systems. I'm not sure a lot of research has been introduced to the public regarding this but I prefer stovetop stuff.
They don't taste good. I'll admit I've tried a few of them but I cook almost everything from scratch so most anything that's prepackaged doesn't seem as tasty to me. For the calories involved I can usually fix something just as healthy and lots better tasting than what can be found in a frozen dinner.
There are no nutrients. If there are any actual nutrients in those meals to begin with, they are most certainly killed off when you microwave them.
I know that the woman who played the medical secretary on ER swore by them for weight loss. I just always feel like they are loaded with salt, though. Maybe if there were a salt-free, organic veggie brand or othergourmet brand, I would feel better about them. I do remember that there are these microwaveable meals that aren't frozen... my grandparents used to send me a bunch from Canada when I was in college! When you are in college, they are great midnight snacks that don't require a donation to the pizza fund.
