Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a great week so far!
I actually have something kind of different and fun to share with you today It all started a few weeks ago when I was contacted by Lizzie, a representative from the company Honest Tea. Lizzie saw my blog and wanted to send me a few new flavors of zero-calorie Honest Tea to try. Sounds good to me!
Lizzie originally tried to set up a time that we could meet to talk about the flavors, but my work schedule made that a bit difficult. Then Lizzie offered to drop the samples off at my apartment. Who does that? Isn’t that the sweetest thing ever? Especially since the Honest Tea offices are all the way in Bethesda and my apartment is a good 45 minutes from there in Arlington. Seriously, so nice.
So then on Monday I got an email from Lizzie saying this:
Woohooo! I was so excited What a great email to get on a Monday, right?
As soon as I got home from work, there it was! Just like Lizzie promised!
Right outside my door
With a cute little note and everything!
Inside the package was a hand-written note from Lizzie and an explanation of all the flavors.
I loved reading the note from Lizzie and hearing about all of the flavors! Here’s a little bit about what I thought…
Flavor: Just Green Tea
What Honest Tea says: For those tea purists out there, meet our Just Green Tea – organic whole-leaf, green tea with full, robust tea antioxidants. Zero calories, unsweetened, honest.
My opinion: I am a huge fan of green tea, so I’m a little biased, but I loved this drink. I usually drink green tea hot, so it was a nice change of pace to try a cold version. It was also just the way I like it- not sweet! Sometimes I think sweetened green tea tastes like dirty sink water, but not this one! It was fresh and delicious. I think this one was my favorite!
Flavor: Passion Fruit Green Tea
What Honest Tea says: Lightly tart notes of passion fruit mixed with our organic smooth green tea, and we sweeten it with organic stevia to amplify the all-natural flavors. Brewed with organic whole tea leaves, it’s a great organic refresher!
My Opinion: I really liked this one! It was pleasantly sweet and reminded me more of fruit juice than tea. I bet that those of you who usually like drinking sodas and other fruity drinks will really like this one! Luckily it wasn’t too sweet though, which sometimes happens with other sweetened teas I’ve tried. De-lish!
Flavor: Zero Calorie Lemonade
What Honest Tea says: Life gave us lemons, and we turned it into a refreshing citrus splash with no guilt! Our lemonade keeps you hydrated without drinking your day’s supply of calories. We sweeten it with a touch of organic stevia to give you the refreshment you need!
My Opinion: Although I really liked this flavor, it was probably my least favorite of the bunch. I really liked the taste at first and thought it tasted just like regular lemonade, but it had a bit of weird aftertaste that was a little too sugary for me. However, I am not a huge fan of sugary drinks in general, so that might just be me. I still really liked this flavor though and would definitely keep in on hand. I bet it would be awesome in the summer!
Another thing I really liked about these teas? The ingredients! No funky chemicals ending in -ucrose here!
Those are the ingredients for the “Passion Fruit Green Tea,” but the only ingredients on the “Just Green Tea” label are “purified water, Fair Trade Certified organic green tea, and natural flavor to balance acidity.” Love!
Ok and there is one last thing I love about these teas that I want to share with you…
I love that the are certified USDA Organic.
As part of my job, I work with government agencies and I know first-hand how difficult it can be for companies (especially smaller ones) to get their products certified by government agencies. The regulations and standards are constantly changing and as a consumer it means a lot to me to know that Honest Tea is willing to go out of their way to become certified by the government for their organic product. Way to go Honest Tea!
Ok so now that I’ve told you how much I am loving these teas, would you guys like to try some for yourselves? Yes? Awesome! Lizzie was so sweet to send me so many samples of tea that I thought I would pay it forward and share some of the goods with you guys!
Simply leave a comment below telling me why these teas sound good to you (are you trying to stick to zero calorie drinks as a New Year’s resolution? Are you a tea fanatic? Are you bored with water?) and I will randomly select a winner tomorrow afternoon to receive some Honest Tea.
Please note I was not compensated for this post. Any opinions are, as always, my own.
