Applesauce is a fat substitute.
In a baking recipe, use applesauce in place of 1/2 the fat to create a low-fat baking recipe
Apricot puree is a fat substitute.
Use apricate puree in baking recipes in place of half the oil or other fat. It reduces fat and adds a touch of flavor
Don't put butter on your corn.
Instead, try a light salad dressing, or fresh herbs, or lemon juice
Focus your entrée on vegetables.
Select a vegetable main dish, and add other foods to complement
Include green salad with dinner.
Add a salad to your dinner every night.
Munch on carrots.
They make a great snack and finger food. Carry them with you for a quick bite on the go. They contain beta carotenes, an antioxidant
Remove the chicken skin.
It's OK to leave the chicken skin on for cooking, but before eating, remove the skin to cut in half the fat content of the meat.
Use fig puree instead of fat.
Replace 1/2 the shortening or margarine with fig puree to make a low-fat recipe.
