Fun Finds Friday: Trader Joes Find’s & Random!…

Posted Mar 29 2013 6:50am

Hi there!  Happy Friday to you!!!!  The weekend is just around the corner and I am so happy about that!!  I really need to catch up on my sleep.  Praying that the people above us continue to stay away the rest of the weekend.  It really has been a completely different living situation without those people around.  It’s been wonderful actually.  I will be extremely sad when they come home.  It will be back to the same old hearing stomping and slamming things and floors creaking.  It sucks.  I’m hopeful that we won’t have to do it for long though.  Fingers crossed we find somewhere to live!

What are you doing this weekend?  I have to get my driver’s license photo taken tomorrow and bring my car in for service.  We are also going to see a few houses tomorrow.  I’m hoping that at least one of them is decent.  That is the majority of my weekend.  I don’t really have too much planned.  I’m keeping it low-key for this last weekend in March.

Passover started on my birthday and as you can probably tell, we haven’t been observing it.  That is for a few reasons.  It’s very expensive to buy all of the ingredients/products.  It’s harsh on my stomach and I’ve been trying to take it easy and heal my stomach not make it worse.  Once we have children that are old enough to understand what is going on, we will be sure to explain things to them and do the dinners, etc.  For now, this is what works for us and I’m okay with that.  I did make matzah ball soup last night though.  We needed to have at least that in our life!

Yummy matzah ball soup that I made!

Yummy matzah ball soup that I made!

Ahh, there is nothing like a comforting bowl of matzah ball soup.  I always use my mom’s recipe.  It’s super simple and I love the taste of dill in chicken soup.  It’s definitely my favorite spice to use in soups. Yum!  Now, let’s move onto Fun Finds Friday, shall we?

Since I had the chance to go to Trader Joe’s last Sunday, I thought I would post some fun finds from there and I have another random find that I wanted to share as well.  So let’s go!

Trader Joe’s Gluten-Free Corn Pasta

Corn Pasta

Corn Pasta

I posted about this pasta earlier on in the week when I made the Cheeseburger Casserole.   I wanted to mention it again because it really was good and I think it’s a great option for those who are gluten-free.  You can’t tell that it’s corn pasta once it’s cooked.  Sure it looks a little yellow but you can’t tell from the flavor at all!  A bag of this was about $1.60 something.  That is VERY reasonable for gluten-free pasta especially from what I have noticed when I wanted to try it.  This is a great find!

Trader Joe’s PB & J Milk Chocolate Bar

I had seen this bar appear on several blogs lately and I thought it sounded way too good to walk past in the store.  Lucky for me it was only 99 cents!!  That was a deal especially since Mike and I are planning on splitting the bar together.  I like that it has peanut butter and raspberry jelly in it.  I’m not a huge fan of raspberry but I think in jelly form, it tastes good.  I haven’t tried this yet but I am dying to see how good it is!

Trader Joe’s Quinoa & Black Bean Tortilla Chips

These are brand new chips that just came out from Trader Joe’s!  When I saw that they were made with Quinoa and Black Beans, I knew that I had to try them.  They look delicious and I think they would be great paired with a flavorful salsa or my favorite choice, guacamole!  I haven’t opened these yet but I am really excited to try them!  I like finding unique flavored chips or products and this one sounds like it will be great.

Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Gnocchi

I have posted a million times about the Sweet Potato Gnocchi.  This is Mike’s favorite product from the entire Trader Joe’s store!  Every time I go in there, I always grab a package of this because I know it’s Mike’s favorite.  It’s REALLY good!  I really love the butter and sage sauce that is on the sweet potato gnocchi.  It’s the perfect portion for two people as long as you have some sides to go with it.  I hate the packaging.  It makes it difficult to cook but I have found, if you run the package under hot water for a few minutes to loosen things up before opening the package, it makes it easier.  Definitely pick this up the next time you are in Trader Joe’s!

Trader Joe’s Wheat-Free Toaster Waffles

I always keep a box of waffles stashed in the freezer for emergencies.  You can have waffles for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  They are versatile and they quick and easy!  I love that about them.  I’ve never tried these Wheat Free waffles but they were only $1.99 and I couldn’t pass that up.  I’m sure that they taste good.  I’m looking forward to trying them.

Trader Joe’s Ginger Chews

Now before I say anything about these ginger chews, no, I am not pregnant!  I picked these up to try to see if they would help settle my stomach.  I’ve heard that ginger is very good for the stomach and I am willing to try anything these days.  I tried only one and I thought it was interesting.  It was very spicy!  I found myself wanting to chug a gallon of water after trying this.  I don’t know if it helped or not and I’ve been scared to try another one.  I guess I will try it again or just keep it around for when I do need it.

Now I’m going to mention a product that is not from Trader Joe’s.

Orville Redenbacher’s Pop Crunch

This is a brand new product called Pop Crunch!  Melissa and my mom picked a bag of this up for me as part of my birthday present and I haven’t been able to put it down!  It’s that good.  I absolutely love caramel corn and this was very similar except it has brown sugar and cinnamon flavoring!  So good!!  It comes in a few other flavors: White & Sharp Cheddar Mix, Cheddar & Caramel Mix, and Parmesan Herb Mix.  I think the flavor that I have sounds the best personally!

So there you have it! My Trader Joe’s and one random product edition.  Have you tried any of these products?  Which product would you most want to try?

Have a great Friday!
