Forgetful Friday

Posted May 24 2013 1:27pm

This post really has nothing to do with Friday, specifically, but who could forget how much I love alliteration?

———————

Before I forget, I should say thank you and give y’all ALL one big giant squishy kiss--which is so not something I would actually do, by the way, being one who expresses her affection in words–for the positive comments, support, and encouragement on both my body image post from last week, and yesterday’s post about losing myself in healthy living. (Luckily I haven’t completely forgotten who I am.)

I would love to say that I will eventually go back and write comments on all of your comments…but in the sake of being honest and realistic, let’s all just forget I said that may ever happen.

———————————

Over the winter, I nearly forgot how quickly I can eat watermelon.

as soon as this photo was taken i panicked about having enough. i went immediately to purchase another one.

I did not beat my ate-a-whole-one-in-18-hours record with this one. But I got close.

———————————

I completely forgot to post on Tuesday to tell y’all that I revamped a favorite recipe from last spring as a guest post on Brittany’s fabulous blog. Please go read all about one of my favorite family recipes that I of course had to change. [That's what happens when you forget to buy key ingredients.]

crunchy spinach + cabbage salad with salty sweet tahini vinaigrette

When I say ‘revamped,’ this of course means ‘copied and pasted and took out parts specific to the actual day they were written.’ Because I tend to tell people I will write guest posts for them, and then subsequently forget (even if I do ‘write’ it on 300,000 digital stickies), I’ve decided my new modus operandi is to reuse old posts–where I found myself to be utterly hilarious/witty/genius/creative–that very few people actually read.

i also nearly forgot i used to write for an online magazine. i actually had to get quickly to a point when i wrote those posts. shocking.

Forget chocolate.

This buttery cinnamon sugar-laced, cinnamon streusel-topped bread that appeared in the staff lounge fridge has been both my delight and my nemesis all week.

And in case I forget to tell y’all in a confessions post, I did take more than one piece, eat just the cinnamon ribbon and streusel, and throw the bread away.

————————–

You can also forget alcohol.

Diet Coke will be what sends me to rehab.*

*R.I.P. Amy Winehouse

I am still limiting it to trips and travel. And Fridays. And weekends. And at restaurants.

(Kidding.)

(Maybe.)

I always forget to pick winners for giveaways. In case you were wondering who won the NuNaturals liquid stevia drops and/or Rudi’s “Live Your Best Life” Food + Fitness prize pack , well…go back to the original posts and check it out.

I could take screen shots of the winning comments like I normally do, but I’m feeling lazy. So forget that.

——————————

However, I did just take a screen shot of a second Rudi’s promotion that I nearly forgot to tell y’all about. Rudi’s is offering ten kids the chance to go to a gluten-free summer camp this summer.

All they have to do to enter is visit Rudi’s facebook page and write a short essay about what going to a gluten-free summer camp would mean to them.

I have not had to deal with surviving thriving in a non-gluten-free environment, but I DO know the value of summer camp . The summers I spent at camp are some of the most unforgettable, life-changing summers of my life, so for a kid to experience that–and also have the worry of dietary restrictions taken off the table*–would be amazing, don’t y’all think?

that could be me out there in that canoe.

*Pun unintended, but appreciated. [Wait. I forget if that is really a pun..]^

^I forgot how much I love footnotes.

——————————–

Although my nut butter boyfriend, Justin, was able to get the “knead & squeeze” part of the equation, he forgot that in order to get every last yummable bit out of those packs, you also must “rip & lick.”

What he, I, and y’all should absolutely NEVER forget is the incredibly satisfying combination of nut butter, bananas, and rice cakes.

———————————

Listening to the new Pop2K station on Sirius has reminded me that I will never forget the lyrics to every pop princess and boy band song ever made, and a rather large number of rap songs–including Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” and “Lose Yourself”–from the early 2000s.

You can also forget me trying NOT to perform in my car should any of these songs come on while I am driving.

———————————

If you forget you’ve left a half-eaten bag of trail mix in the car, you will discover that you now have nutty dark chocolate bark instead.

This will NOT be a bad thing.

———————————-

I’m sure I had some brilliantly wonderful way of ending this post. But if I did, well, I obviously forgot.
