Foods that Harm & Foods that Heal: Reader’s Digest

A great new book came my way recently from Reader’s Digest. The book featured tons of great stuff including:
More than 170 foods, plus simple ways to eat, cook, and store each food to maximize its healing potential.
More than 100 health conditions — from arthritis to varicose veins — with quick tips on what to eat to prevent or treat each ailment.
An all-new overview of nutrition and food safety, including the role of phytochemicals in health; the potential dangers of pesticides, food additives, and genetically modified crops; and the best healthy cooking methods.
I love that the book was set up like an encyclopedia, in alphabetic order.
Each page was packed with information. Everything from how to use the food, to what it harms and what it helps. The pages also included great pictures and helpful tips.
Another bonus: the buying tips! Sometimes it hard to remember what to look for when buying certain fresh foods.
The book also had a section on feeding kids, which I loved. It included a breakdown of when to feed certain foods to kids and what good substitutes were available for other foods.
This is a great book to add to your kitchen library! It would make perfect reading for an afternoon in the sun or a reference book to turn to when you have a question or a condition.
