Faith Filled Friday

Posted Dec 10 2010 10:54pm

I love to receive good news! Probably one of the most encouraging things that could happen to me in a day is for someone to tell me something good.  It could be about almost anything and guaranteed it will brighten up my day. The good news is…as believers in Jesus Christ, we have good news to share!

“For ‘whoever will call on Him in whom they have not believed?’ How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!’” Romans 10:13-15

In the text today the Bible is telling us that unless workers are sent throughout the world, there will be no gospel message relayed and, unless the gospel is preached, sinners will not hear Christ’s message of salvation. Simply put, God’s good news is to be proclaimed in the nations through God’s people. The salvation message is not intuitive, it needs to be told.

“How beautiful are the feet”… my feet are not a beautiful part of my body. I have long bony crooked toes. However, God says that any feet become beautiful when they share the Good News. If your feet take you to someone in need or if you help someone to follow Jesus, then your feet are being used for a purpose that matters for all eternity.  Those feet are beautiful!

Missions are fortified by prayer. Every missionary needs those who will pray for him and the work he is called to. Along with prayer, a vital need in missions work is financial support. It can be the deciding factor of a missionary going to the field. Often financial support is a key way of confirming God’s calling for a missionary to serve. Giving toward missions is an exercise of faith, just as going to a mission field is.

You can leave a beautiful footprint in this life. One of the greatest things you can do for another person is to tell him or her about Jesus Christ and the way He has saved you from your sins through faith in Him. You don’t have to be a pastor or gifted speaker to introduce others to Jesus. You and I are the hands and feet by which God has determined to proclaim His good news throughout the world.  As we pray, as we give and as we go, we become His hands and feet!
