Egg Whites

Posted by C.L. R.

I was wondering recently what the big deal was about eating egg whites as opposed to eating the regular, whole egg. I stopped liking the taste of the yolk ages ago, but I was wondering whether or not it was a "trend" or a real deal - after all, many years ago, the avocado was supposed to be bad for us because it was so high in fat. Turns out, that's the good kind of fat.

So, I did some research and yes, the egg yolks are high in cholesterol. Still recommended that we don't eat a lot of them. But here's the part that caught my fancy, since I go in and out of my commitment to watching my cholesterol - there is a heck of a lot more calories and fat in an egg where you take down the yolk! Just for the purpose of calorie count, I have new motivation to stay away from that sticky yellow center.

An egg yolk a day is OK by me. But eat more than that you're cruising for fat. Cholesterol lies in the fruit of those thighs that we love with the wings but they too are fat things. Chicken products taste good and they can keep ya in d'hood of healthy cuisine if you just keep it lean. Don't fry and drive. Just say no to Yolks.
