In Eat Right for Your Metabolism, author Felicia Drury Kliment explains that the body's acid-alkaline balance can change metabolism, causing people to gain weight, and can create other health concerns like cancer.
Kliment catagorizes people into three main metabolism types - meat and grain eaters and omnivore. She then explains how each type can benefit from eating the right foods. The book contains 26 recipes and a list of seven-day eating plans.
Maybe she wants to get us out of The Zone or off The Beach, but I don't buy it. If you look at food intake from an evolutionary view point, i.e., what did our ancestors eat before the invention of agriculture, you have to conclude that we're all supposed to be omnivores. In fact, if we eat less processed, drug-laced food, and more foods in their "natural state" we'd be much better off. So kids, eat your fruit and veggies, have a handful of nuts, and grill up some organic buffalo meat!
