Friday night we went up to the lake, Lake Chautauqua, NY, to get ready for Dock Day. Dock Day is the traditional start of summer in our family because it means the lake is ready for us. It usually doesn’t feel like summer though, it’s usually freezing and drizzly and the water is ice (so I hear, I don’t actually go in .

After the dock was done we had a traditional lake feast! Steak, roasted veggies, salad, fresh bread, and watermelon! After dinner we enjoyed one of our favorite summer treats – ice cream sandwich cake.
