Pizza Fusion is a new pizza restaurant franchise that offers gluten free pizza for customers with celiac disease and/or wheat allergies.
While visiting a Pizza Fusion in Orlando, Florida last week I had the chance to meet the wonderful franchise owners: Mark and Sharon Adelhelm. Both were incredibly friendly, down-to-earth, and extremely knowledgeable about the gluten free diet and the foods they served. Sharon told me that one of the biggest compliments they consistently received was having a great menu offering safe gluten free foods. During our meal, Sharon also mentioned that there would soon be a Pizza Fusion restaurant in Raleigh, NC.
Pizza Fusion codes every menu item to let customers know whether or not items are gluten free, vegan, or lactose free! I couldn’t believe this restaurant had gluten free listings on their MAIN menu. The restaurant also prepares gluten free foods in a separate area in the kitchen to prevent cross contamination! The restaurant also bakes up gluten free, casein free chewy chocolate brownies for dessert!
My husband and I sampled the gluten free pizza with preservative-free pepperoni and bacon, fresh organic peppers, tomatoes, pineapple, and mushrooms! The large thin crust pizza is baked on an oblong pizza stone, specifically reserved for gluten free pies. The pizza was absolutely outstanding! I am not generally a fan of bean flours, but this crust was incredibly crisp and delicious. We also made sure to sample the excellent gluten free brownies as well!
The gluten free pizza crust is made from a combination of garbanzo & fava bean flour, tapioca starch, and rice flour for a delicious, crispy crust! All toppings (other than the sausage), cheese, and sauce are also gluten free!
They practice what they preach by using hybrid cars for delivery, supporting sustainable business practices and seeking out environmentally friendly vendors.
Pizza Fusion restaurants are build from recycled, earth friendly materials, and they make every effort to follow eco-friendly practices on a daily basis from the toilet paper to the biodegradable take out containers.
