Brown rice takes longer to boil?

Posted by Momma Risko

I thought I'd turn to a healthier alternative to bread every now and I tried boiling brown rice with some veggies.  The veggies were alright, but after all the water was absorbed, the brown rice was still crunchy.

I let the water boil, then I put a third of a cup of rice in and put the lid on.  I let steam come out of the hole on the lid and stir occasionally.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. [[I ruin everything I cook except for non-dairy spinach dip lol]]

brown rice usually has more of a bite to it than white, but does take longer to cook- mine is around 30-40 minutes. You can get faster cooking ones though that are ready in 15 minutes or so.
