Back to School Breakfast

Posted Aug 19 2013 10:00am

Everyone I know seems to be a teacher, or the mother of a small child (thank you for the constant reminder Facebook). They are all starting school today, and while they may have gotten up super early on the first day for a pancake breakfast, the excitement is sure to fade. What can you do to make sure your child (or you, for that matter) start the day off on the right foot? Read on for 10 bright and early ideas and start your day, the healthy way!

1) Whole Wheat English Muffin with 1 tablespoon Peanut Butter or 1 wedge of Laughing Cow Cinnamon cream cheese (light)

2) 1 container Fat free yogurt with 1 Tablespoon Granola
3) 2 scrambled eggs and salsa rolled up in 1 whole wheat tortilla
4) Granola bar (<10 grams of sugar per serving) + 16 grapes
5) WaffleWich (2 whole grain waffles with 1 tablespoon peanut butter and 1 sliced banana in the middle)
6) Whole wheat toast with Cinnamon raisin peanut butter For cinnamon raisin peanut butter, mix: ¼ cup peanut butter + 1 tablespoon raisins + 1 teaspoon cinnamon
7) ½ cup plain oatmeal (cooked with water) + 2 tablespoons cinnamon raisin peanut butter
8) 1 tablespoon peanut butter + 1 sliced banana, rolled into 1 whole wheat tortilla
9) Whole wheat English muffin + 1 wedge laughing cow light Swiss (spread on bread) + reduced fat ham + mustard
10) 24 almonds + 2 tablespoons of Raisins

What's your favorite quick breakfast idea?
