Abnormality #1: A new coffee mug!
My roommate found these at Costco. I chose the green one, of course (some things WERE "normal" yesterday). It has a nice little push button that took me 12 minutes to figure out how to use, but once I did, coffee flowed like wine.
Except, you know, like coffee. Wine in the morning is not a habit I subscribe to. At least not on a regular basis.
Abnormality #2: My Breakfast
What? No overnight oats? What's happening here?
Well, I had just enough yogurt left in this large yogurt container (and a very large spoon to eat with) to create a CFY yogurty-mess of deliciousness.
How now, Brown Cow?
As you can see, the f(ruit) was a diced up peach...perfectly ripe.
Mmmmmm....such a yumtastic way to start the day...
...even if it wasn't the usual.
My spoon had stars on it, which made it AWESOME.
All morning, I was at a training outside of school, which might seem like abnormality #3, except I'm learning that in this position, with testing and meetings and trainings, actually seeing all of my groups every day would be an abnormality. :)
What IS abnormal? Carrying around math educational resources....and actually wanting to read them....[because yes, I have become a math geek]
...of course, at 7:45 in the morning, I'd much rather hide something a little less academic inside.
Let's just say health and food magazines are my comic books.
Instead, we look to lunch for abnormality #4. (Or is it 5? I've lost track. Oh well. I'm at least trying for a theme here, people. You have to give me that.)
Wait. Hold up. Where's the salad?
No salad! Instead, the star of the show today was one of these bad boys These are probably my favorite store-bought veggie burger, only because they hold a sense of nostalgia for me, since they were the first veggie burger I ever consumed, as a camper at camp who had declared herself a vegetarian one summer and no longer could eat the "real" burgers.
Perhaps it is like how Jif Peanut Butter still tastes so darn good because you associate it with childhood.
Anyways, I made myself a lovely little burger-wich with some toasted sourdough bread that, as I've mentioned before, tastes bizarrely like it is covered in butter [read: amazingly delicious] when thawed and toasted from the freezer.
I also put some tomatoes on top, since I am not yet crazy enough to carry around a bottle of ketchup.*
*I am crazy enough to carry around BBQ sauce, however.
The tomatoes were tucked underneath some baby carrots.
I also had some cucumbers that I covered with apple cider vinegar and, being unable to find the dill in the cabinet, bizarrely sprinkled with garam masala. Insta-Indian Pickles? Maybe? No?
I wished I had a mug of soup, however, as I was freezing all afternoon. My room is COLD.
That was not abnormal. I have been wearing a parka inside since August. No joke, we had to go into full lockdown mode, locking the doors, turning off the lights, and whatnot.
Another after-school professional development training followed the school day (duh, since I called it after-school PD...), to which I brought my Jonathan apple, and snagged a free 100-calorie pack of SunChips.Jonathan apples are good, but the best, by far, are JonaGOLD. When you get a good one it is the perfect mix of a sweet Honeycrisp and a tart Pink Lady. [I'm sad I won't be able to pick any at Carter's Mountain this year!]
I didn't get to eat those SunChips, however, because...
THE SCHOOL WENT INTO LOCKDOWN!!!!!
Turns out there was burglar on the loose in the neighborhood, and so we had to keep all the doors locked and walk in pairs to our cars to check for, and I quote, "a man hiding underneath them."
Anyways, after that bizzaro abnormality #6, the heightened levels of cortisol in my bloodstream combined with my lack of a substantial afternoon snack, led me to this tummy tamer in my bag I love you, Caramel Peanut Kashi Roll!
My teeth love you, too.
(Does that picture turn you on, future and current dentists out there?)
After working out at the gym, I walked out into abnormality #7 Rain + Sunshine + Birds Chirping
Don't you love when that happens?
Abnormality #9? My post about being a newbie blogger was up on Healthy Living Blogs ! [Just because I knew it was going to happen doesn't make it any less atypical...] My dinner looked something like this...
...with the addition of cottage cheese and some Asian ginger dressing. (I forgot to take a picture. Perhaps abnormality #8? Or perhaps that honor goes to the fact that I actually used salad dressing?)
Clearly that dinner wouldn't fill anyone up, so I also ate an exorbitant amount of Trader Joe's Almond Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds from the package Molly sent me. Sadly, excessive nut butter consumption is totally normal.
Month-of-Me Celebration #22
In honor of the fact that I tried to make this a thematic post, and am pretty sure I failed horribly, thereby most likely alienating any readers I still had, I'll just go ahead and celebrate my stream-of-consciousness, tangential style of speaking, writing, and rambling.
I hope you can follow it. My students usually can't. :) [Tangent, Ms. Pember! Tangent!]
