Achari Broccoli

Time required : 15 minutes
Serves : 4

Ingredients

500 g broccoli, cut into florets
30 g ginger - garlic paste
15 g chilli powder
5 g saunf ( fennel seeds )
Salt to taste
45 ml oil for frying

For the batter:

250 g besan ( gram flour )
10 g chilli powder
3 g turmeric powder
25 g mango pickle , finely chopped
Salt to taste
Method

1, In a pot , bring some lightly salted water to a boil. Add broccoli florets and cook on a high flame till the broccoli gets tender.

2, Drain off the excess water , and blanch the broccoli in ice cold water for a few seconds.

3, In a separate bowl , combine ginger- garlic paste, chilli powder , saunf powder , and salt , and marinate the broccoli for 10 minutes.

4, In another bowl, make a batter of pouring consistency by combining all the ingredients with a little water. Mix well and pass it through a sieve to remove lumps.

5, Heat oil a pan . Dip the marinated broccoli in the batter so that it gets evenly coated , remove and fry in hot oil till it turns golden brown.

6, Serve hot, a tea – time snack or as an accompaniment with lunch and dinner .
