What’s Going to Happen to Medicare Advantage?

Posted Nov 27 2010 9:23pm

Many health care experts are concerned about the affect health care reform will have on current Medicare Advantage plans across the nation.  According to the article “Obamacare Could Shut Out Medicare Advantage” by Marcia Davis-Seale on DailyTribune.com, about 50% of all seniors with Medicare Advantage will lose their plans because of payment cuts that will be put into place due to the health care reform bill as cited by Medicare Chief Actuary, Richard Foster.

Insurance agent of 33 years, John Traylor, believes seniors should be way of current Medicare Advantage plans since the reform bill has affected their benefits significantly.  Many carriers of Medicare Advantage plans are already eliminating them from the marketplace slowly.  Seniors can have Original Medicare with a good Medicare supplement insurance policy and still see excellent benefits.

The Obama administration has cut a large portion out of Medicare funding for Medicare Advantage plans and carriers are having trouble funding the current Medicare Advantage plans out there currently.  If you are unsure how your Medicare plan will be affected, contact an expert who can walk you through how health care reform will change your specific plan, if at all.
