The University of Virginia Medical Center selected Epic, a Wisconsin-based electronic medical records system software vendor as the core applications for an expected $122 million seven-year project. The new system-wide software project will replace older electronic systems and hybrid systems that still used some paper charts and which were often a hodge-podge by department according to Dr. Marshall Ruffin, Chief technology officer.
