Two Teleradiology Companies Become One as Virtual Radiologic Acquires to acquire NightHawk

Posted Sep 28 2010 5:14pm

Just a few months ago Nighthawk went through some major upgrades at their headquarters.  If you are not familiar with teleradiology those are the folks that read image images 24/7 and this can happen when you are at a rural hospital or any location to where a radiologist interpretation is needed.  Many hospitals use both services both during and after normal working image hours to there’s always someone there to read the image.

The company also offers “cloud” PACS services so onsite servers are not required and they offer a back up service to store all PACS images in addition to the teleradiology services.  BD

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN – Virtual Radiologic (vRad), a national radiology practice and developer of radiologist workflow technology, will acquire competitor NightHawk Radiology in a $170 million deal. image

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based NightHawk Radiology (NASDAQ: NHWK), provides radiology solutions to radiology groups across the country. vRad will acquire all of the outstanding common stock of NightHawk Radiology Holdings, Inc. for $6.50 per share in cash, which is double NighHawk's closing stock price of $3.25 per share.
