MYTH 2: “Competition in healthcare drives down cost.” Maybe in some retail non-urgent settings this is true, but that is not where the real costs of healthcare exists. In the acute and critical areas of healthcare, duplication, marketing and unnecessary care drive up costs dramatically. Even the insurance industry — if you look at premium comparisons — has very little price competition for their products. |
