Swine flu cases identified in the US; number continues to increase

A number of confirmed human cases of a new strain of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection have been identified in the U.S. and internationally, and the numbers continue to increase. Richard Besser, acting director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said, “ I fully expect we will see deaths from this infection,” as swine flu cases are investigated.
