Merlin is the St. Jude wireless system and you can read at the link below about the collaboration between devices and HealthVault for personal health records too. Implanted devices are getting smarter.
I have covered quite a bit about implanted devices that now send text messages as well. One more good reason for a HealthVault account if you have an implanted device. BD
St. Jude Medical Inc. received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a pair of wireless-ready pacemakers.
Little Canada-based St. Jude (NYSE:STJ) said the new pacemakers — called the Accent RF pacemaker and Anthem RF CRT-P (for cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemakers) — are can wirelessly communicate with a programmer used by the clinician or a home monitor. Wireless communication is used when clinicians implant the device and during follow-up appointments, which can be performed in the clinic or via remote monitoring from the patient’s home.
