The National Institutes of Health onboard with web-based ("cloud computing"), on-demand, real-time messaging and conferencing software that will keep employees and emergency response personnel connected. The software also includes an audit trail for reporting and follow-up. The article reports that the NIH has been using the application called Send Word Now since 2003 and they are now expanding its use from the initial 300 users to 35,000 NIH employees.
