Montana Becomes Third State to Allow Doctor-Assisted Suicide

Posted Dec 08 2008 8:53pm

Montana joins Washington and Oregon, but an appeal is expected to surface.  BD

Montana residents have a constitutional right to doctor-assisted suicide — at least until the state judge’s opinion is appealed. Montana’s attorney general plans to take the case to a higher court.

The judge ruled late Friday that the Montana state constitution’s protections for human dignity and individual privacy permit competent, terminally-ill Montana residents to get medications causing a peaceful death.
