Maryland Health Insurance Quotes

Posted Jul 26 2010 7:44pm

According to the article on MarylandReporter.com written by Barbara Pash about rising health care costs in Maryland the Federal health care reform signed into law earlier in 2010 is expected to save Maryland about $829 million in 10 years.  These savings may be easily wiped out by the rising costs of health care.

The health care reform bill is partly intended to reduce the number of uninsured Americans.  Despite cutting the number of uninsured Americans in half, from 14% of Marylanders down to 7% by 2017, there will still be about 415,000 people without Maryland health insurance .  That’s still higher than Maryland officials want to see.

The federal government has provided Maryland with $85 million for a health insurance pool of patients considered high risk, which is money Maryland no longer has to spend which will help.  Also, there is increased federal aid for Maryland children’s health insurance which hopefully will contribute to lowering the state’s future health care costs and possibly bring down health insurance quotes in Maryland over time.
