Know the Benefits of Milk Thistle, Pycnogenol, Curcumin and Ginkgo Biloba

Milk Thistle

Milk Thistle is used as an herbal remedy. As a matter of fact, Milk Thistle has been in use for more than 2000 years. Milk Thistle is used as an herbal remedy for the treatment of a wide variety of diseases, especially gall bladder, kidney, liver problems etc. Most scientific studies suggest that the substance present in the Milk Thistle help protect the liver from toxins.

It is the flavonoid complex which is also known as silymarin. The substance is extracted from the seeds of the Milk Thistle and is also believed to as one of the active components biologically. In the United States and also in Europe, Milk Thistle is quite popularly used for treatment of different kinds of liver diseases.  

Pycnogenol

Extracted from the pinus pinaster,Pycnogenolis known for its active ingredients commonly used in the treatment of asthma, circulation problems, muscle soreness, diabetes, osteoarthritis, pain and also in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD. Apart from these, Pycnogenol is also used in curing menopausal symptoms, endometriosis, painful menstrual periods, eye disease and erectile dysfunction (ED). Pycnogenol is even used to slow down the aging process. It helps maintain the skin, improves the athletic endurance and also improves the male fertility.

Curcumin

For several thousand years,curcuminhas been a part of Eastern medicine. Curcumin is considered as the main component of turmeric. It consists of a wide variety of health advantages. According to studies, curcumin consists of several powerful anti-oxidant, anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory properties. Curcumin is considered as safe and without any such adverse effects.

An extensive research highlights the fact that curcumin is effective in many ways. All throughout Asia, turmeric has been commonly used for a host of problems, including wind, bloating, heartburn, stomach problems, colic, liver ailments, flatulence, allergies etc. It is highly valued by those who practice the Hatha Yoga and is known for its good effects on the ligaments. Unlike the most other NSAIDs, curcumin is proven safe and without any adverse effects even if the doses is up to 8,000 mg per day.

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba has been in use for several years. Ginkgo is especially used for the treatment of different conditions, and many of which are still under investigations. The available evidence demonstrates that the efficacy of ginkgo in the administration of fatigue, depression, decreased physical performance, the intermitted claudication, Alzheimer’s disease, cerebral insufficiency, confusion, impaired confusion, atherosclerotic disease, dizziness, headache etc.  

The Ginkgo herb is usually well tolerated. There are several evidences that point out to the different beneficial effects of ginkgo in memory enhancement, age related eye disorders, symptoms of the premenstrual syndrome, reduction of the chemo therapy induced end organ vascular damage and in some other areas as well.
