Investing in children improves health of community

Ample research exists that currently points to the significant improvement that happens with individuals and communities when we invest more in early childhood education.

While there have been many studies over the decades regarding the impact on brain development of children depending on the amount of caring and nurturing they receive in those early pre-k / preschool years, more and more business groups are beginning to weigh in, including the Federal Reserve, to emphasize the importance of early childhood education.

It’s important for healthcare leaders to understand the positive impact investing in early childhood education can have in improving the health of a population. Healthcare leaders need to educate business leaders and community members about the importance of childhood education in order to help improve the health of the population.

The video below has been around awhile, but it helps drive home this point. A key ingredient to a healthy community begins early in terms of what we learn, lifestyle habits we form and examples we see. All are interconnected.
