Interoperability a Hot Topic at the ONC Annual Meeting

A “hot topic” at today’s ONC Annual Meeting is interoperability, and h ow interoperability can improve patient care. Two of the meeting’s panelists for the HIE and Interoperability: Sharing Information to Improve Patient Care session, have posted blog entries today with their thoughts on the subject.
John Halamka, M.D., Chief Information Officer of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Chairman of the New England Healthcare Exchange Network, Co-Chair of the HIT Standards Committee, a full Professor at Harvard Medical School, and a practicing Emergency Physician also posted a blog entry, “Interoperability Gets Real,” on his Life as a Healthcare CIO blog as well as the Health IT Buzz Blog .
