How you can make your own Medic Alert flash drive, part I

Posted Jan 24 2010 8:42am

First, you need a flash drive!  I wouldn't buy one unless it can be strung on a fine chain or cord.  You also want one with a flat area at least 3/4" X 7/8".

Don't worry about its capacity.  You plug it into a modern computer, and create a folder, called "Medic Alert".  Once it exists, move it to My documents, and open a new document file.  Type in your full name, address, ID and/or passport number, telephone numbers, and date of birth.  You also want your blood type, known allergies, medical concerns, what meds and OTC supplements you take,  AND the name of your primary physician, their phone #, and location of the practise/HMO/clinic.  On mine, I included a sentence or two about my touchy veins.  You Save the document IN the Medic alert folder, and move that folder back into the flash drive.

Now for the cute part!  You go to www.zazzle.com/brianwhite72

There, you have at least ten Medic Alert logo stickers to choose from!   For $5, you get 20 stickers, 1-1/2" in diameter.  However, the logos are about 3/4" across, so they will fit on YOUR flash drive.

This concept is going to save lives!  Get started, I'll give you more pointers later.       Brian
