How many doctors take Medicare?  According to this article, in Texas, 58%.  Thank image goodness Congress acted on the legislation yesterday not to cut physician compensation, but this is the picture here as it stands today in Texas.  The numbers shown are from the Texas Medical Association and you can see from the picture what is evolving on the stats on how many take “new” Medicare patients.  BD

Only 58 percent of doctors in the state now accept new Medicare patients,  according to a recent survey by the Texas Medical Association, down from an estimated 90 percent before 1990. Among primary-care doctors, the percentage is 38 percent.
