How has managed care influenced current medical care systems?

It has helped push for greater efficiency and it includes regular reviews of care for medical necessity.  This means that managed care plans won't authorize care if they don't feel it is necessary and they won't pay for it if a patient received care that they feel wasn't necessary. 

Managed healthcare has helped improve some aspects of care, but it isn't without its critics.  There are some policies and practices of plans that continue to be addressed.
