Welcome to the Storage STAT blog at Hitachi Data Systems. We have started this blog to address, monitor, debate and present ideas related to a common goal each of us walking this planet have in common, our Health and the organization, individuals and institutions which help us manage it.
In these posts we will explore what is what is working, what is not and how we can create a more flexible infrastructure and approach to managing the data, processes and events which ensure our health or nurse back through recovery.

A Kaiser Family Foundation study shows that in 1970 U.S. healthcare spending stood at a modest $365 dollars per resident - or 7.2 percent of GDP. But by 2016 (not that far away) healthcare spending is forecast to rise to well over $12,000 dollars per U.S. resident. That’s an unbelievable and unsustainable 19.6 percent of GDP. Today, everybody is worried about this immediate economic crisis, but the cost of healthcare has been undermining the financial soundness of the U.S. for a long time.
The new administration and our challenging economy will force significant changes in American healthcare. Clearly, our present system with its spiraling costs and uneven quality isn’t sustainable. Unchecked, our healthcare expenditures will top 20 percent of GDP within the next few years. We already spend twice as much per capita on healthcare as most other developed nations creating a sink hole for American businesses that compete globally.
Believe me we are ready and yes….it’s Time for New Thinking.
