Once again, blogs from the HIMSS session, let's review of the Sunday Symposium Day. I've heard the trips were very worthwhile for the CIO Forum, Project Management Symposium, and Informatics Symposiums. It also looked like there was great attendance at the CPHIMS Review Session. Best Wishes to all those candidates! I have to say that the Reducing Risk in Healthcare IT purchase offered great insights and perspective with 2 Healthcare IT contract attorneys and 2 litigators (one more focused on mediation). Given that a good contract leads to a good implementation, and all the implementing that is about to start, I was surprised there were only about 7 people in the room. If HIMSS offers it again, I would highly recommend it.
After some luke-warm pizza, spent the afternoon over at HIMSS Central. The breadth and wealth of information on HIMSS activities is amazing. I'd recommend folks stopping by and checking it out. The Beacon Partners free paper is well worth picking up itself.
Several vendors spent the day prepping their stands, the hall is looking good. It is amusing to see those from past lives march on towards the vendor hall free-handed, trailed by an entourage of individuals carrying all items under the sun. Somethings change, others remain the same.
The theme of the opening reception seemed to be Atlantis, but between the music and darkened lighting it was hard to touch base with those you know. Food was good, and there were no waits for drinks.
For today, I'd recommend checking out the education sessions. Great shared experiences on Barcode Administration to creating multi-disciplinary order sets. Stop on by the communities open house to visit around 5.
