Closing Post from 2013 NESHCo Spring Conference

Posted May 22 2013 1:32pm

IMG_3943 If you live anywhere close to New England and work in healthcare marketing, you should consider attending events sponsored by the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo). I just returned from the Spring 2013 Conference and the content was spectacular. We had amazing presenters including Dean Browell, Karen Corrigan, Stephen Moegling, Candace Quinn and Ben Dillon, to name a few. They even let me present! Many of the presenters are the same people I see speaking at major national healthcare marketing conferences. Of course the benefit of seeing these healthcare marketing pros at NESHCo is that it is a smaller, more intimate setting and that lends itself to higher quality interactions. Approximately 140 members attend NESHCo conferences. I like gatherings of that size. (In full disclosure, I am a NESHCo board member and fully admit to loving the organization.)

To wrap up the experience, I thought I’d post some final photos from the event. One of the things my firm did this year, leading up to the conference, was to create a social media promotion linked to NESHCo’s big annual awards ceremony: The Lamplighter Awards. We developed the hashtag #LoveTheLamp. It was primarily a Facebook campaign, because many of NESHCo’s members are not major users of Twitter. Even NESHCo itself has a limited presence on Twitter – although we are working to change that. This year during the conference we had the most Twitter activity we’ve ever seen. (Check out my prior post providing Tweet Binder Twitter analytics from the conference.) The #LoveTheLamp hashtag did get some play on  Twitter, with 21 different people using the tag, with a reach of 28,460 and potential impression of 56,833. But, as I said, this was truly a Facebook promotion and it did what we wanted it to do. It created buzz leading into the conference and sustained that level of interest throughout. Below are some Twitter stats followed by some final photos from the conference. (Note how the Lamp is ever-present in the photos.) Click on any image to enlarge. Enjoy.
