CIO Executive Edge: Making a decision that may upset people? Just ask

We all face the need to make tough decisions mostly around the need to match resources with revenues or results. Recently I was talking with a CIO who asked the following question. We are going to get off our current micro-blogging tool and port it to another solution in house? The problem is that it will cost us about $50 to $150K to automatically move their contacts to the new platform. What does the micro-blogging community think? Have you given them a voice? A choice?
