Encore Health Resources is an Epic certified partner so this makes sense since the hospital is using Epic and last year went full force with the Epic Revenue cycle Suite. Computerized Physician Order Entry is the tricky or complex part of the solution. When you look at the career page of Encore, they are primarily looking to hire Epic experts in many locations, although they are not limited to working with Epic only.
Back in November of 2010 I attended the convention mentioned below and it was a real learning experience and there were individuals from Cedars Health System in attendance and I asked a couple questions. If nothing else from one day of attending, you get a huge appreciation for the amount of data, security, intelligence and just day to day clinical use that is facing the hospital CIO today, not to mention the new left curve we get from technology every day.
Payers and the obstacles and data considerations needed were mentioned in every forum so it’s right up there with bringing all the system together from the point of care to payment. The agenda featured a preview of the latest healthcare technologies, industry panels with healthcare luminaries, product demonstrations from leading vendors, and information from researchers reporting on the healthcare industry. When you stop and think of all that needs to come together with terminology with the doctor’s input and the automation processes, this is a big deal and a big project. To explain simply, when the doctor enters the information, it will code and pretty bill the entire visit or care scenario entirely and that’s a lot text to connect to financials.
Also noted on the website, Encore is also contracted with Tenet to begin their implementation of Cerner medical records. The CS-Link ties the financial end of the medical records to the doctor order entry process. BD
