The first phase in the long-term hospital renovation process at Baystate Medical Center is now complete. Some say the changes are helping to create what is being called the 'Hopsital of the future.' The new MassMutual Wing and the Davis Family Heart and Vascular Center is changing the way medicine is practiced.
"We are setting an example for the world to follow," hospital leaders explain. "Today we turn away from years of medical care that works best for us, the doctors, nurses, administrators, technicians, the system, so to speak, and embrace the evidence proven best practice treatments that work best for patients," says the Chief of Cardiology and Medical Director, Aaron Kugelmas.
The $296 million expansion features state-of-the-art technology. The new center will enable specialists to perform advanced procedures with the latest operating room imaging. The new facilities will enable physicians to perform multiple tasks all in one location.
