U.S. Secretary of Education to Introduce Ernest Green at 4th Annual The HistoryMakers Go Back to School Program at H. D. Woodson

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will visit H.D. Woodson High School at 8:50 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, to give remarks at the 4th Annual Back to School with The HistoryMakers program. Duncan will talk about the importance of commitment—this year’s theme—and introduce HistoryMaker Ernest Green, who, as one of the Little Rock Nine, was the first African American to graduate from Little Rock Central High School after it was integrated.

The HistoryMakers—a national non-profit, research and educational institution—is committed to preserving and making widely accessible the untold personal stories of both well-known and unsung African Americans to educate the world about the struggles, determination and achievements of African American life, history and culture. The HistoryMakers shares its collection through The HistoryMakers Digital Archive, The HistoryMakers Education Institute, The HistoryMakers Speakers Bureau, live public programs and its interactive website .
