Jo Anderson, senior advisor to Education Secretary Arne Duncan, will give keynote remarks at the North Dakota Education Association’s (NDEA) Instructional conference on Thursday, Oct. 20, in Bismarck, N.D. The conference theme is titled “Owning the Change Together.” Anderson will discuss the Obama Administration’s overall strategy for improving our education system, including the most recent plan to give states relief from NCLB in return for commitments for reform. He will also talk about the work the Department is doing with teachers and unions toward effective school reform.

The NDEA was established in 1887 and has performed a range of activities – from lobbying for increased school resources to building coalitions and community support for schools – aimed at making public education the best it can for its students. It has worked to improve the political climate and economic conditions for public education, promote educational excellence, innovation, and equal opportunity, and become a leader in school reform.
