Secretary Duncan to Address Education Panel at National Governors Association Winter Meeting

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will participate in the "Education, Early Childhood and Workforce Committee" panel at the National Governors Association's (NGA) Winter Meeting on Saturday, Feb. 26. Duncan will highlight the administration's plan to reauthorize No Child Left Behind and discuss the role governors play in generating education reform. Additional panel speakers include Andreas Schleicher, head of the Indicators and Analysis Division, Directorate for Education, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and Sir Michael Barber, head of the Global Education Practice, McKinsey & Co. NGA membership includes governors of the 50 states, three territories and two commonwealths. The association connects governors and their senior staff members with congressional and administration representatives on key federal issues and assists governors with developing and implementing innovative solutions to public policy challenges through the NGA Center for Best Practices.
