Event Date 1: March 15, 2011 08:30 am - 09:30 am

Melody Musgrove, director of the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), and Carl Harris, deputy assistant secretary in the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE), will deliver welcoming remarks at the Education Department's Sixth Annual OESE/OSEP Leveraging Resources Conference Tuesday in Washington, D.C. The two-day conference brings together officials from various technical assistance projects funded by OESE and OSEP, including Comprehensive Centers, Equity Assistance Centers, Parent Technical Assistance Centers, Regional Resource Centers and others.

This year's event is aimed at building understanding of Knowledge Translation (KT), a process that involves taking the best available research and applying it in the real world, in education as well as other fields. KT and implementation science aim to shorten the research-to-practice gap and ensure that we use what we know from the best available research to improve our schools and school systems, and increase success in school for all. The conference also offers participants a chance to share effective strategies to support their technical assistance work.
