Is the birth control pills any different If your sexually active then the pills you take when you tell your doctor your not?

3 Years ago I was a virgin and I got birth control pills because my period was so outta whack. I havnt been to the doctor since. I know I should. But Im not a virgin any more...are the pills any different? They seem to be working, but I just want to make sure there are no differences between how strong something is.
